on this movement, saying, “Billions of times per day, consumers turn to
Google for I want-to-know, I want-to-go, I want-to-do, and I want-to-buy
moments. And at these times, consumers are increasingly picking up their
smart phones for answers. In fact, more Google searches take place on
mobile devices than on computers in 10 countries including the U.S. and Japan.”
The facts are plain and simple, mobile is taking over and Google has already been taking steps to accommodate this.

Ok, I know people are using the web more and more, but what other reasons
would I want to go to the trouble or expense of getting a website?

Reason 2 for a Website: Control

The 1 biggest advantage would be Control, no matter what you might want to do, to make your business stand out, your in Control, of course you can advertise in places like Craig’s list, or Face book, or Ebay, or Classified
ads in the local penny papers or go really expensive and use Television. But, you have no Control, in what you can say, or how many images you can
have, or even what you can sell, or how you can sell it. And these types of places all cost, they are making money on your efforts. At least for me, I’d rather have a choice in how I spend my money. With a website, the only real
monster you have to worry about is Google, and doing what they want you to do, to succeed. More about that in another post, since it’s such a complicated subject.

Reason 3 for a Website: Extended operating hours

One very important advantage is that it’s open 24 hours a day! Even if you, actually have a real storefront business, now a days if you aren’t at least trying to be in front of your customers, your behind. It’s almost free advertising 24/7. You could easily implement a mail order business, from your storefront with a website that way your in front of all time zones and countries, all the time. And, you would not be paying employees to reach out to customers, you could easily have an FAQ on your site. That would answer the most common questions about your products or services and a comment box, where they ask you questions and get an answer the next day.

Reason 4 for a Website: Other avenues of Income
You could also use your site to generate business other than your own products. You would be able to use Adsense, or sell advertising from none competing sites. Knowing your customers, you could easily offer the chance to buy products that would compliment your products, and build loyalty. But, take care not to use to much advertising, because a lot of distractions, would be bad for your site. Or you could swap advertising with them, but check to see if they are a good fit. You know how we all hate all the commercials we have to wade through to watch T.V.

The Internet knows no physical boundaries and time does not affect it. You can reach people around the world 24/7. Thus your website has the potential to reach an unlimited audience. And for all practical purposes, this audience
is a ready to buy audience. If people are searching for something, they know the Net has it available somewhere, they just have to find it. Can they find your business? All other forms of advertisement only offers a limited time to
expose your business to an audience, or a very limited geographical area of reach.
